Pique vs Pixieset for client photo proofing.
Both products can help a client choose photographs, but they solve different-sized problems. Pique is a narrow selection layer for photographers who already keep proofs in Dropbox. Pixieset is a broader gallery and business platform with delivery, sales and other studio tools.
Choose Pique when you want Dropbox to remain your file system and only need a calm path from proofs to exact filenames. Choose Pixieset when client delivery, storefronts, branded galleries or a wider studio suite are part of the job.

The real difference is where the workflow lives
Pique does not ask you to move your files anywhere new. It reads the JPEGs sitting directly in a Dropbox folder, presents them in a private selection gallery and returns the original filenames. That makes it useful between export and final edit.
Pixieset is designed to own more of the client-gallery journey. Its official material describes gallery delivery, proofing, downloads and print sales, alongside website and studio-management products. That breadth is valuable when you want one platform to do more.
Which is less work?
If your proofs are already syncing to Dropbox, Pique removes a second upload destination and keeps the handoff deliberately small. If your final delivery already happens in Pixieset, using its built-in favourites may mean fewer systems overall.
- Pick based on the system that already holds the work.
- Count the upload, setup and filename-matching steps, not just feature totals.
- Run one real client job before moving a whole workflow.
An honest limitation check
Pique is not a substitute for a print shop, website, CRM, final-delivery archive or heavily automated approval system. Those are intentional boundaries, not hidden roadmap promises. Its advantage is focus when those extras would be unused.
Common questions.
Is Pique a full Pixieset replacement?+
No. Pique replaces only the proof-selection step for a Dropbox-based workflow. It does not provide websites, print sales, final image delivery or a CRM.
Can both return filenames for Lightroom?+
Yes. Pique returns exact source filenames in copyable and downloadable formats. Pixieset documents a Lightroom Copy List for client favourites.
Does Pique permanently copy my Dropbox photographs?+
No. Pique only remembers which photos are in each gallery and which ones were picked. Your images stay in Dropbox and are shown from there.
